GARD JONESS C U L P T O R

As a sculptor I find satisfaction in the creation of objects that look at the world through the door of whimsy with jaundiced eye.

I gather together disparate symbols of modern society and treat them as sacred objects with hidden truths.  In combining these objects into a unified whole they hold the glass darkly to reflect the contingencies of reality, finding foolishness in our structures, in hierarchies and in our everyday lives.

Engine 40

is the home and studio of sculptor GARD JONES and painter CHEVELLE MAKEBA MOORE JONES.  Located in the Howard Park neighborhood of Baltimore City, Engine 40 was first commissioned as a Baltimore City Fire Station in 1920 and continued in service until 1990.
